How To Tackle Plagiarism?
What is Plagiarism?
According to the University of Oxford, Plagiarism is “Presenting work or ideas from another source as your own, with or without consent of the original author, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgment.” In simple words, Plagiarism is copying data without you letting the author know that you will use the data.
Why is Plagiarism a challenge for international students?
Plagiarism can pose a challenge for international students due to many reasons:
a). Language Barrier- Many students face language barriers when they study in a foreign country. If English or another language is not their native language, they may find it more challenging to express themselves clearly and effectively in writing. All this can lead to a higher risk of unintentional plagiarism, such as incorrect paraphrasing or improper citation, as the students can find difficultly to use the right words or sentence structures.
b). Differences in academia- Academic citation and paraphrasing differ from country to country and educational systems. International students can find it difficult to understand the rules and regulations that can lead to violations of academic integrity.
c). Pressure to succeed- International students often feel the pressure to succeed academically and professionally abroad. Occasionally they use shortcuts academically in the need to meet higher expectations at school and tackle heavy coursework.
How to avoid Plagiarism?
a). Understand what Plagiarism is– Familiarize yourself with what plagiarism is and the different forms it can take. Recognize that using someone else’s words, ideas, or work without proper attribution is considered plagiarism.
b). Conduct your research– Use reputable and diverse resources for your research. Ensure that you differentiate between your thoughts and direct quotes.
c). Use proper citation and referencing– Whenever you use information, or direct quotes, use proper citation. Some of the citations are MLA, Chicago, APA. Which style is appropriate for your research, will be provided by your institution.
d). Utilize plagiarism tools– Many institutions and universities provide plagiarism detection tools to students. These tools can be used to analyze and review if any plagiarism has occurred.
e). Seek help if needed– Universities have resources and help desk associated with plagiarism. The student can consult them for help and also reviewing their data. Your professors related to the course can be a good help if needed.
f). Do assignments on time– Do not wait for the last moment to get your assignments done. Have enough time to review and make corrections.
To address these challenges, educational institutions often provide support services tailored to the needs of international students. These services may include language support, academic writing workshops, cultural orientation sessions, and plagiarism awareness programs to help students understand and adhere to the expectations of academic integrity in their new academic environment.

Career Options After Bachelor of Arts
The current generation is willing to pursue an undergraduate degree in arts as they are aware that it includes creative arts, linguistics, media, journalism which is the knowledge of the modern world and employment. People have always underestimated the ones who hold an Arts degree. But the students who graduate with an Arts degree have a wider perspective and logic in their expression. They have a deeper imagination, good at evaluating people’s attributes, ability to develop critical analysis skills, research, assess and hold discussions at par with those who hold a science or commerce degree.
The arts programs are very different from what a non arts degree program. In Arts, rather than studying in the classrooms there is a concept of practical labs, workshops, greenscreens which provide the students with hands-on experience. This helps the students to get ready for jobs once they graduate and understand the area of interest. They step out in the real world with a better clarity and they know the path they have to take rather than be super confused on what to pursue.
In present times many universities around the world have emphasized on math and has become a requirement for art programs. The students who do not meet this criteria, have to take up an entrance math test or a placement test in math to secure a place in the program of the university. This shows that math or statistics have become an integral part of the arts. This is how students with an arts background can crack interviews for organizations such as Amazon, IBM, and Google. As Arts students are proficient in most of the domains, they can apply for jobs in varied fields. When it comes to careers after bachelor of Arts, a graduate can apply for jobs catering to their specialization. Eg creative arts students can become an actor, theater artist or can apply to become a content writer, scriptwriter or stage manager if they are good in writing and managerial skills.
While a linguistic specialist student can opt for jobs as a translator, teacher, copy or editor but also apply for a marketing executive jobs or a public relation office jobs. A photography or landscape design major can apply for jobs as cinematographer or apply for a job as an architect assistant, or in social media or in video photography. Dance majors can apply to become choreographers, performers, a digital dance specialist ( which teaches dance all over the world using social media or online platforms) or a degree in hospitality can fetch you a job in the airline industry or a travel & tour company that allows you to travel the world.
Arts even has a technical side which includes VFX, graphic design, 3D animation and visual communication. These have become prominent fields in today’s world. VFX, Graphic Design and Animation have become a necessity in the TV and Film Industry. Today we cannot imagine movies without either. The students who graduate with these majors not only can apply for jobs in the TV or Film industry but also the Information Technology Field (IT) as they require highly efficient Graphic designers to design and analyze applications or build an audience, attractive website or create animated objects for the betterment of the field and industry.
When we think about high salary paying jobs, we always think about the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) field or the business field. It’s not the STEM field that provides high salary paying jobs but also Arts graduates if they are properly guided and shown the right path.

Statement of Purpose (SOP): All You Need to Know!
A SOP, or Statement of Purpose, is a letter that applicants write outlining their reasons for selecting a particular course as well as their interests, objectives, and future plans. The admissions committee is the intended audience. It is often referred to as a letter of intent or a research statement.
You should be able to explain in detail in your SOP why you choose a particular course and what you hope to learn from it. Your SOP should demonstrate your enthusiasm for the topic. Through the SOP, the admissions committee should also obtain a sense of your character strengths.
Importance of SOP
When you apply for study abroad, your only concern is receiving a decent offer from a respected university. However, you might not be aware of the processes that the admissions office goes through when reviewing your applications. An SOP is important because
It’s possible that it draws the attention of the admissions committee to your profile first. Therefore, creating a strong SOP should be a top concern. You might be competing with people who have comparable academic credentials. An SOP is your chance to differentiate your application from the competition. It also shows how effectively you can express your ideas, goals, and strategies. The admissions committee will receive a subjective opinion from your SOP.
Writing Tips for Statement of Purpose (SOP)
• It need to be unique.
• There are many sample SOPs on the internet, however it is not a good idea to duplicate them word for word.
• Grammar mistakes should not be present in your Statement of Purpose.
• The admissions committee may have some important questions about you, and your SOP should contain the answers to such queries.
• Make sure to adhere to the format if the institution has specified it for the SOP.
• A strong SOP will highlight your enthusiasm for the topic, your potential, and the reason you chose the particular course.
What is the basic format of a SOP?
Making a SOP, or Statement of Purpose, from scratch is not an easy undertaking. It will take a while to get ready for an insightful SOP; probably weeks or months. However, establishing a SOP without adhering to any rules will be ineffective because the majority of SOP rejections occur when those don’t meet the required standards. An introduction, body, and conclusion are required for every SOP.
These three components must be precisely specified and supplied with the relevant details.
Getting professional advice can help you in getting the best SOP and secure it with no trouble. To make your SOP seamless, hassle-free, and successful join @educationstreet

What makes a great Statement of Purpose for Undergraduate?
The Statement of Purpose for Undergraduate, represents your entire university application. This short essay has the potential to greatly influence your admission decision. So it’s very important to present an SOP that’s professionally and creatively drafted with lots of care. Here are some questions you should definitely address when you sit down to write…
What’s your story?
You could share a life-defining experience that had a great impact on your thinking and ambitions. You don’t need to present your career goals very precisely. However, your passion and aspiration should reflect vividly.
Who’s your inspiration?
You may also talk about your role model in life. It is not necessary to relate it to your academics and career. Rather, try to illustrate how you can grow as an individual by following your icon’s footsteps.
Do you have any achievements or recognition?
The next part should focus on your personality. All countries want students who have excelled beyond textbook academics. You can talk about a remarkable achievement in any field like sports, music, creative writing, quiz competitions, or Olympiads. This must be a narration, not a cluster of loosely tied bullet points. If you have achievement in multiple domains, then focus on one and give a succinct account of others.
Have you worked with people before?
Share your experience and learning from your community services. Though this would be there on your resume, on the SOP you have to share your experience in details. Then, explain what inspired you to choose your desired subject/stream, and why is the USA your most preferred destination for the course. This should be explained in details logically. It is very important for you to be thoroughly acquainted with your curriculum as you’ll also need to justify your choice of university and course.
Why should we pass your application?
Finally, you may sign off with a very strong reason regarding why you deserve the opportunity to fly abroad in every respect. Your language must be lucid, intellectual and should thoroughly demonstrate your linguistic skills and command over grammar and vocabulary. For example:
“ I have a special interest in human psychology so I would like to opt the same as minor.” Should be replaced by “Human mind is a treasure of enigma. It always amazes me how with the help of science we can read and understand the thought process of a person and even control the same when required that provides a great sense of gratification. I would be extremely happy to have psychology as a part of my curriculum to imply the same in reality.”
There is no substitute for a grammatically perfect SOP. As far as the language and the vocabulary are concerned, the universities will never compromise even if you are brilliant in academics. Rather, someone with a great test score and academic performance is expected to draft a fairly nice essay. Remember to use tools like Grammarly and Hemingway to check for typos before sending it ahead.
We wish you all the very best for your adventures around the globe! if you have any query feel free to connect with Education Street.
