My Educational & Professional Background
My journey began in software development, followed by an MBA from the University of Leeds, UK. I also earned a Diploma in Counseling and worked with British Petroleum in London as a Management Trainee.
But the true turning point was during my own study abroad application process. Despite strong academics, a solid GMAT score, and work experience, I was misguided by commercial agents suggesting poor-fit universities.
That frustrating experience shaped my vision: to build a platform that offers honest, ethical, and student-first guidance.
Founding Education Street
In 2010, I Ankita Thakker founded Education Street with a mission to provide transparent, practical, and empowering counseling. Since then, Iʼve personally mentored over 10,000 students to study in the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and across Europe — for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
What truly sets us apart is our commitment to clean counseling. My team and I are known for telling it like it is. From the very first session, we give parents and students a clear, realistic picture — no sugarcoating, no sales gimmicks.

What Studying Abroad Means to Me
Let me also share what studying abroad truly means to me. When I arrived at the University of Leeds, I was overwhelmed — I was scared to even sleep alone. It was my first time away from home, in a foreign country, far from everything familiar. The initial days were hard. But stepping out of my comfort zone changed my life — because thatʼs where I finally met myself.
I discovered my strengths, confronted my weaknesses, learned to cook, built friendships, and most importantly, learned to be with myself.
Why I Encourage Every Student to Study Abroad
I truly believe that if given the chance, every student should study abroad or at least away from home. It fosters independence, problem-solving skills, global exposure, and confidence.
I always tell parents, this is one of the best gifts you can give your child in todayʼs world. A global education shapes not just your academics but your entire worldview, helping you grow in every dimension.
My Passion for Career Counseling
Over the years, career counseling has become a core focus of my work. I consider it my lifeʼs purpose to support the student community, whether they aim to go abroad or stay in India. The right career guidance is the foundation for a fulfilling future.
With over 15 years of experience across courses, career paths, job trends, and study destinations, it comes naturally to me to guide students in their progression. I often begin working with students as early as Grade 9 or 10, helping them explore options, build profiles, and make informed academic choices from the start.
Beyond Work: My Interests & Travel Experience
Outside of work, I love meditating, reading non-fiction books, practicing yoga, swimming, and traveling. Iʼve been fortunate to visit 33+ countries — many of which are the very destinations I send students to.
Iʼve personally visited several universities across these countries to understand their systems, culture, and student life — so I can offer real, on-ground insights to every student I counsel.
