Can international students work while studying?

Students on full-time degree-level courses holding a Student visa are permitted to work in the UK. they can work up to 20 hours per week during University term time. UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) has defined a week as seven days, starting on a Monday and ending on a Sunday. If you hold a student visa for a part-time course, you will not have the right to undertake any work, paid or unpaid, in the UK.

UK Post-study work opportunities

The new post-study work visa rules will allow students to work within the UK after graduation. From September 2020, any student enrolling at a UK university can stay within the UK after graduation for up to 2 years to look for work associated with the course. This applies to the graduates of all education providers that are recognized as licensed visa sponsors. Once you know you can work in the UK while studying, you can apply for a post-study work visa also.

The visa requirements for those graduates are expected to be the same as their original student visa rules, so unless your circumstances have changed, it should be automatic. This applies to undergraduate (Bachelor), post-graduate (Master), and even Ph.D. graduates.

Any international student on a Tier 4 visa who enrolls at a UK institution from September 2020 is eligible to stay within the UK after graduation. And look for employment opportunities working while studying is a good way to earn some hands-on experience and build self-confidence.
