The Following Are The Types of Student Visa
1. Fee Paying Student Visa –
This type of study visa is required for most of the international students who want to study a bachelor’s or master’s degree in NZ. All the students who want to study for more than 3 months in New Zealand have to apply for this visa.
Under this visa, students are allowed to attend their full-time studies from a NZQA-approved institution, and they can work part-time for 25 hrs in a week and full-time during their breaks. This visa is valid for the entire duration of their studies.
2. Pathway Student Visa -
Under this visa category, students are allowed to study 3 consecutive courses on a single visa up to 5 yrs. This type of visa is for the students who enrol themselves with approved Pathway Education Providers and for some courses of study only, for example English course – to a Diploma, to a Degree.
Students are allowed to work part-time for up to 25 hours a week while they are studying and full-time in the holidays, depending on their course of study.
3. Exchange Student Visa -
If you have an acceptance from the approved student exchange scheme and you are outside New Zealand, then you need to obtain such type of visas to study full-time in NZ. You are not required to pay tuition fees as you are considered a domestic student on this visa.
This visa is valid till the exchange program duration. Work rights depend on the course.
New Zealand Student Visa Requirements for Indian Students
To obtain the New Study Visa, the applicant must fulfil the requirements set by Immigration New Zealand (INZ). Requirements are academic, language proficiency, health examinations, character certification, and financial requirements. These requirements are explained below in detail.
1. Academic Requirements
Applicant must have an Unconditional offer to study the full-time program from NZQA approved University or Institution. Applicants must provide all the academic documents and certifications related to their previous qualification.
The course applied must be relevant to their previous studies or their work experience. There has to be an academic and career progression, with reference to their previous studies and work.
2. English Language Proficiency
Universities, as well as Immigration New Zealand, requires Language proficiency certificate from the students. Students must submit their IELTS, TOEFL or PTE Academic test results.
3. Financial Requirements
This is the most important factor that an applicant must take care of. Applicant has to show the proof of funds available to study the course as well as for their living expenses in NZ. The funds should be from the approved financial institutions and from acceptable sources only.

Students must go through the health check-up before applying to visa, from the approved panel of physicians. They have to go through an entire health examination, TB Test, Chest X-Ray, etc.
5. Character Certificate –
Applicant must obtain the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) showing good character. It should be more than 3 months old at the time of visa application.
6. Additional Requirements –
If you are an under 18 age student, you should provide the details and declaration of your guardian in NZ, and also submit the accommodation details and agreement.

Step 1: Select Your Course & University & Application Submission
